Costa Rica’s First Dragon Boat Team for Female Cancer Survivors

This first dragon boat team in Costa Rica joins more than 340 Breast Cancer Survivor teams and 6000 survivors around the world who have discovered that a dragon boat and the camaraderie of sister survivors can be the key to finding wellness and an active life after acancer diagnosis. The team welcomes all female cancer survivors in Costa Rica. We train twice a month in a 9.2-meter dragon boat and meet off-the-water to participate in fitness workouts, yoga classes, and social events with family members.

Dragon boating is more than just a sport — it’s a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and sharedstrength. For many, especially cancer survivors, the rhythmic paddling and teamwork represent ajourney of healing. Being part of a team creates a supportive space where members can sharetheir stories, celebrate victories, and lift each other through challenges. This sense ofcommunity is vital for survivors who may feel isolated or misunderstood. Whether on the wateror off, dragon boating offers a vibrant, joyful way to reclaim life with courage and camaraderie.
